Music Ministry
Psalm 92:1 says, It is good to praise the Lord and make music
to Your name, O Most High. Here at First Baptist we enjoy uplifting,
Spirit-filled praise in our Worship Gatherings as well as a time for more
personal, reflective vertical worship. Our musical style blends favorite hymns
with modern praise and worship songs culminating in a semi-contemporary format
that offers something for nearly every musical taste.

Adult Choir |
|
The
Adult Choir is the
backbone of the music program at FBC and sings each Sunday morning. For
our Christmas, Easter and Festival of Freedom concerts, an orchestra is
hired to accompany our productions. This choir is open to all Senior High
youth and adults. Our weekly rehearsal is Sundays from 6:00-7:30. No
audition required. Daycare and Awana is provided for the children during
this time.

This past Christmas the Adult Choir and
Echo Christ Youth Choir presented “Ring in the Season,” a musical dinner
theatre. We stepped back in time to the 16th century to see how the King
and Queen celebrated Christmas. We performed this dramatic musical five
times over one weekend. Once on Friday with dinner, twice on Saturday
with dinner, and twice on Sunday without dinner. We sang to a 15 piece
Medieval Orchestra complete with Trumpet Fanfares to announce the Court.
There were jokes from the Jester, stories from the Bard, and ballads by
the Troubadour.

What the Adult Choir is Doing Now
-
What the Adult Choir is doing now - The
Festival of Freedom is June 28th, at 6:00 PM followed by an Ice Cream
Social. In this annual service we honor active and retired military
personnel, police officers, and firefighters. The choir is singing seven
songs from “The Torch is Passed” with a 20 piece orchestral. |
Adult Praise Teams |
|
The congregation is lead by an adult
praise team each Sunday. The Praise Team members are chosen from the
Adult Choir. Each Sunday the Praise Brass Ensemble accompanies the
worship service. This is open to any High School or Adult brass
player. They rehearse Wednesday at 7:30 PM and Sundays at 8:45 AM. |
Youth Praise Teams
& Band |
|
On Wednesday nights
the Youth have their own worship service in the Passage, the old
sanctuary. Currently the Youth Praise Team features vocalists,
guitars, keyboards, and drums. They rehearse Wednesdays at 5:30. |
Youth Choir |
|
Echo Christ is the name we have chosen for the Youth Choir. As
Christians our lives should echo what Christ has taught us. The
Youth Choir practices on Sunday at 5:00 in the Sanctuary. This
choir is for 7th through 12th graders. One
Sunday a month the Youth Choir leads in worship for “Big Church”
when the choir sings, the youth praise band plays, present a drama
or skit, and one youth sings a solo. |
Children’s Choirs |
|
KidzChoir-Made4Praise meets on Wednesdays at 6:30 in the basement of
the North building, during the school year. KidzChoir ranges from
Kindergarten through the 6th grade. The children’s choir sings on
the first Sunday of each month. They sing one anthem and the Hymn of
the Month. The Kidz also ring 4 octaves of Handchimes. This training
will help them transition into the handbell choirs when they reach
the Youth department. In the Fall we focus on a Christmas Musical
Drama and in the Spring we work on the VBS Musical for parents
night. |

What
the Kidz are Doing Now -
The Kidz Choir is taking a break for the summer, but we will
start again August 22nd. We will again feature the Hymn of the Month
contest, sing the first Sunday of the month and begin working on our
Kidz Choir Christmas Musical; CNN, Celestial News Network, which
will air December 16th. |
Handbell Choirs |
|
FBC is privileged to
own a 5 octave set of Handbells. This is open to High School Youth
and Adults. In the worship service we accompany hymns, and play the
prelude & offertory. If you are interested in playing Handbells,
please see Pastor David. |
