Walkinshaw August 2006 Update

We’ve had a GREAT Summer!!!
I know that I complained about the HOT Mali weather back in May, but now I’m singing a different tune. Via the internet, as I watch the weather back in Kansas City, I’m very thankful I’m here. July and August is really very pleasant in Mali (as opposed to KC). Cloudy skies, heavy rains a couple times a week… Too bad it has to end in another month! We'll enjoy this while we can.
We’re so thankful for all our dear friends, who through their prayers and special gifts made it possible to get our “new truck.” The ac is so cool, and it “dances” over the rough roads, what a comfortable difference it makes in our work!
We feel VERY blessed.
Once school was out in June, everyone was ready for a change of scenery (and an escape from the Mali heat). So we “baptized” the 4Runner into our family by driving it to the Ghana coast for an “adventure.” The beaches, the castles, the rain forest , the shopping, and the restaurants were a blast. The 2 weeks went by too fast though.
The July Scripture Use workshop with the Supyire language team went really well. They have a big challenge in helping their people learn to truly value and love their own language. Pray for the Supyire people.
Tena helped organize a weekly service outing for the MKs here in Bamako. They put James 1:27 into practice by taking care of orphans each week at an orphanage. They also took a week and painted several rooms, covering the walls with beautiful, masterpiece murals. Everyone really loved being involved in this worthy cause!!!
(See pics and more details on our website of our "June Adventure," the Supyire SU workshop, and the Orphanage Ministry. Click the link below...)
Tena has accepted an offer to teach 1st grade at the American Embassy School. This has opened up a great schooling option for our kids (especially Danae). PRAISE THE LORD!!!
Wycliffe Fun Fact #12 There will be a GRAND CELEBRATION here in Mali at the Minyanka New Testament dedication on November 3-4 in Kimparana. We’re excited about being a part of this!!! Please be in prayer for this very important event.
c THANK YOU for being a blessing to us so that we can be a blessing here in Africa (Psalm 67),
